Gemini is the KVM host that runs the NIC virtualized backend infrastructure. It is destined to replace Fripp, Mecha and Motion.

Hardware Info

  • CPU: 28c Xeon X7560 @ 2.3GHz (quad socket, 2x multithread)
  • RAM: 256GB
  • Disk: 480GB SSD in hardware RAID-1
  • Ethernet:
    • 4 x NetXen @ 1Gbps [active]
    • Mellanox MT26448 SFP+ @ 10Gbps
  • Other NIC:
    • Mellanox MT25408 QSFP+ (10Gbe, 40Gb IB)

Virtualization

Gemini is a former ACISS fat node.

It currently hosts five virtual machines:

  • Pliny - replacement for Motion (web host)
  • Cato - replacement for Fripp (DNS, LDAP)
  • Galen - replacement for Mecha / Neuroapp (...)
  • Custodes - planned handler of licence manager daemons
  • Hector - CentOS-8 node for users to begin testing software in prep for OS upgrades
