Detailed Configuration Info
Consult the Configuration subpage.
Use Policy
Due to Mist's mixed ownership, its use policy is different from other ICONIC Grid resources. Please read the Mist Usage Policy before scheduling jobs.
Load Monitoring
You may check the cluster utilization and job queue with Ganglia on Mist.
Scratch Space
Approximately 750GB of PVFS2 high performance scratch space is available at /scratch.
This space is not for permanent data storage. Files in this directory may be removed if not used for more than 24 hours or when the system is restarted.
MPI and Torque+Maui
Getting Started
See Software:PBS for general information on using our Torque+Maui batch scheduling system for interactive or parallel jobs. Included are instructions on how to compile your code, write a batch job, and submit it for processing.
Queues
Jobs submitted from the Mist frontend will enter into the 'mist' queue by default. This contains all 16 x86_64 nodes. See Queues for a list of available queues.
Node Attributes
Because the Mist nodes are not completely heterogeneous, users interested in restricting their jobs to a subset of the nodes containing only Clovertown or Harpertown processors may use the chip codename as a scheduler property when requesting nodes. Examples:
Request two Clovertown nodes (any two of mist-0-0, mist-0-1, mist-0-2, mist-0-3)
qsub -l nodes=2:clovertown:ppn=8 job.sh
Request 6 Harpertown nodes (any six of mist-0-4 through mist-0-15)
qsub -l nodes=6:harpertown:ppn=8 job.sh
See Batch Attributes for more information about using qsub arguments or job script lines to fine-tune your run parameters.
