Introduction
The UO OACISS has a wide range of hardware and software services available to facilitate high performance program development and testing. This page includes basic information to help you access these resources.
Unless you are in our offices or the datacenter, it is necessary to access OACISS systems through our login nodes. These are orthus.nic.uoregon.edu and sphinx.nic.uoregon.edu and they permit login via SSH. These nodes have separate home directory filesystems, and Sphinx is attached to a cluster of nVidia Tegra systems. Orthus is the primary login for access to Frank.
Once you have logged in, you will almost certainly want to setup SSH keys to permit local passwordless login; This is required if you intend to use any resource schedulers (i.e. SLURM).
ODDC
OnDemand (OOD)
We have an Open OnDemand server available at ood.nic.uoregon.edu. This can be accessed using your OACISS credentials.
OOD provides a web-based console, filesystem access and the ability to run a remote desktop in the browser via WebVNC. This can be used to get graphical applications running on other systems by using 'ssh -Y', which will forward X windows with low latency (the Frank systems have 10-100Gbps local network speeds).
